I realize I am quite behind in my blogging if anyone still reads these. I hope you had a great Christmas and or holidays. I did. It was pretty crazy and went by way too fast. I have been rolling over this subject in my mind forever. I couldn’t quite get my tone calmed down enough to put it out though. I think I’ve got together what I want to say now. Two months later.
The Cliff Notes (Do they still have those?):
-Walls do in fact keep people away from things, that’s why we build them. Saying they don’t work is silly.
-Walls are not racist. Nationality is irrelevant at the border. We just want to know who is coming in.
-Coming in legally is too expensive and it takes too long. Thus this whole problem.
-Republicans and Democrats have both stated they wanted a wall over the years and they wanted “real reform.” They were all lying and both parties continue to lie today. None of them want a wall or to make it easier to become a citizen as far as Latin people are concerned. They represent an endless supply of slave labor and votes.
-For decades both parties have swapped the majority and the White House and for something they all say they agree on (border security) they’ve done pretty much nothing. That’s all the proof you need that it’s a scam.
-Both parties have advocated for a wall yet never passed a single bill to build it other than some fencing here and there. Too expensive? Really? How many billions have we given to Iran, Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, and on and on, but we can’t spend $5 Billion on a wall to keep criminals and drugs at the gates? Weird.
That’s right I said it. I am one of “those” people. However, once your done rolling your eyes or fist pumping, my opinion on this muddy topic is not all that black and white. I will say right off the powers that be on the right and left no matter what they say, absolutely do not want a wall on that border. The President is the only one. Being an irrational billionaire narcissist allows him to do whatever he wants.
The left of course wants a steady flow of potential voters they can manipulate with promises of the American dream, but all they really do is hand out welfare. A hand out not a hand up. They also share a much more nefarious reason with the right. Both parties enjoy a steady flow of cash from from corporate America. No secret really. Congressmen and women pass the laws the corporate lobbyists ask for and the corporations keep them in power. What does this have to do with the wall? Well essentially slave labor that’s what.
Corporations love having workers that aren’t on any official government paper work. They can work them like dogs for pennies and they can’t complain to anyone or they get threatened with deportment. It’s the perfect system that the “Swamp” likes just the way it is. Another reason I believe in term limits, because this mostly applies to the old timers in Congress and the easily or naively corrupted. Term limits is another discussion for another day.
You may scoff at this as conspiracy theory, but I can promise you I have seen it first hand in various stages of my career(s). This practice is especially prevalent in the textile business, agriculture infrastructure, in non union factories, and of course sweatshops. Corporate entities save who knows how much untold cash on not paying payroll taxes, social security, medical, and liability insurance.
The people at the top of Congress on the left and right really don’t even want to grant real amnesty to the illegal immigrants that are already here “Dreamers” etc. Once they are legal citizens they can demand equal rights and living wages. Profits would take a huge hit which leads to banks, stocks, but most important to politicians, there goes that lobby money. I have proof, both Speaker Ryan (R) and the Democrats in Congress essentially agreed on amnesty and making dreamers citizens and Obama was in the White House…yet it still didn’t happen. They are still in limbo EIGHT years later.
The current President threw approval of the Dreamers amnesty into his latest proposal to keep the government open in return for the aforementioned drop in the bucket $5 billion. Slam dunk for Democrats, but nope. Wait what? They’ve been crying for Dreamers and “kids in cages” and they were given the green light to free them all and yet they didn’t. That’s because they don’t give a shit. Sorry excuse my French though that word is not French it’s actually Germanic. All they give a shit about is embarrassing and “defeating” the President. Acting just like the petulant child they accuse him of being. How are we still voting all these idiots in?
Also side note another reason Democrats fight so hard against voter ID. They don’t want their illegal constituents being challenged at the voting booth. The left pays too heavily for those illegal immigrant votes to allow that.
Oh don’t think for one second voter ID has anything to do with black people or poor people. The Democratic party quit caring about black people a long time ago. They need those Mexican, Central American, Eastern European, Middle Eastern illegal votes. They vastly outweigh the number of black American voters. Just Google Hillary gaffs with black people where she says blatantly racist things, but no one bats an eye.
If you don’t believe me, then how is it we are even still talking about this after decades of both parties having had control of congress and the white house yet no amnesty for the folks already here, no wall, and no comprehensive immigration reform we keep hearing about from both sides? Just in my lifetime I have heard Presidents from Carter to Trump and Congress from Pelosi to well still Pelosi I guess. Anyway, powers that be left and right talk about border security and reform and still not one single significant step has been taken to change anything.
If anything it’s worse now than it has ever been. You had the Bush’s, Clinton, Obama, all able at one time or another to build a wall, grant citizenship to the 8 million or so already here, streamline the legalization process, make ICE bigger, make ICE go away. There is a whole lot of video on the interwebs of all those Presidents and Schumer, Pelosi, Ryan, Graham, and on and on contradicting themselves on a border wall and immigration reform depending on which party was in power.
If the Democrats were in power they would ask for amnesty they knew good and well they wouldn’t get and then blame the Republicans. Many of them even advocated for the “wall,” but would attach things in the bills intentionally that they knew Republicans would vote down. When Republicans were in power then even saying “illegal immigration” became “racist.” Regardless of video everywhere of Democrats saying the exact same things that Republicans are saying now and vice versa. They just keep playing keep away with us hoping we don’t notice.
I have two cousins that have married two very delightful Canadian citizens. I have watched their agonizing process to US citizenship first hand and it is beyond ridiculous. I would be illegal too if someone told me I had to go through all of that crap. Your first piece of paper, the application will cost you $5,000 off the bat. Well you just eliminated 99% of Latin American people at the border trying to come here with nothing but the shirts on their backs. The five grand is just the beginning of at least 3-5 years of paper work and thousands of more dollars and the constant threat of being deported. We didn’t deport the Boston Marathon Bombers after the FBI was told by Russian intelligence they had been training in Chechnya to guess what build bombs. However ICE threatened to toss a Canadian school teacher who works with special needs kids, and a Canadian baseball scholarship athlete out of the United States. On what planet does this make sense?
While you are awaiting your piles of mindless and repetitive paperwork you are not allowed to go home within that time or you can just stay there and not come back. WTH?! They had to have their wedding here in the states and if their Canadian parents/friends/family wanted to see them they had to come here. Yet we allow people on terror watch lists travel to the middle east and come back on student and work visas. Does this make sense to anyone?
Only the most backward redneck or racist gives a crap if we make 8 million Mexicans (or name your Latin ethnic group citizens I am generalizing). They’re not leaving, no one would/could organize that trip even if they wanted to which no one in D.C. really does as I have illustrated. I believe normal people like me just want them paying their share of taxes and know they are being treated like people and not slaves. It isn’t right for them to live in fear while making a dollar an hour picking fruit or cleaning your hotel room. On the flipside I don’t appreciate paying for their kids to go to school or soak up health care benefits while they aren’t paying into the system. Does that sound racist to you?
This isn’t a “I’m not racist I have black friends” statement. I love Mexican people. Love them. I defy you to find an ethnic group that works as hard or is as family oriented and friendly as they are. I lived in southern California until I was ten and was often the odd white kid out in my neighborhood, but you would never know it. My elementary classes were split in the middle between English speakers and Spanish speakers. Our teachers had to be bilingual and would teach the whole class in English, send us to recess then keep the Mexicans in class and teach the class again in Spanish. It was crazy, but I never experienced or witnessed a single racial incident there. I didn’t really see racism till we moved to St. Louis and wasn’t effected by it till I joined the military, but again another story for another time.
I don’t want anyone looking for the American dream to be stopped by paperwork or money as long as they’re law abiding and willing to pay taxes. I don’t care what they look like I just want to know who they are make them citizens and open the gates wide open for them. If you’re in MS13, a cartel, a terrorist etc you should not be able to cross through someone’s yard from the border and do whatever you want. It mystifies me that anyone would argue this point. You wouldn’t take the front door off your house. Most people have fences around their yards. You don’t want people just trucking through your backyard with bales of cocaine or automatic weapons. Or is it just me?
So, build the freaking wall. While it’s being built you eliminate the ridiculous costs, waiting periods, and paperwork to get in here the right way. It will by far pay for itself by adding millions of the undocumented to the rolls. The people we are paying for to be here illegally will then be paying for themselves and treated like citizens. You know, crappy like the rest of us. If you are here illegally you are by definition a criminal. If you are employing or providing sanctuary for criminals you are also by definition a criminal. This isn’t nearly complicated.
Charge people $5 to get in here or let them work a payment plan to stay here. They keep a good record for however many years and take their test which most of us would flunk, and bingo you’re in for good. Everyone is happy. Oh wait not everyone. Corporations and politicians would hate this which is exactly why we are still fighting over a subject we actually all agree on. Those of us with souls anyway.
Gracias for reading.

My friend, ever since I met you back in 2008 I always thought you had a special way with words. Thank you so much for expressing these thoughts, Reading this has made my day!
I have been troubled lately thinking of the path our country is going. So much division, hatred, violence, etc.
We truly need leaders that help us come together as one nation under God. Is it too much for us to ask our leaders to while standing up for their beliefs, still be civil to one another and be willing to compromise. We are all difference, been raised differently, been affected by different things in our lives, etc., but we must learn to try to understand others points of views. I fully believe in the statement “United We Stand and Divided We Fall”.
You were a great leader as our boss and we could sure use some inspiring leaders in our government. So perhaps we can talk you into running for office!
Take care,
Craig
